Instructions For Use

Jaggi/ExegiMed Ophthalmic Surgical Instruments:

All Series in Stainless Steel and Titanium

All reusable instruments are subject to care instructions supplied by Jaggi/ExegiMed, unless different instructions explicitly supplied with the instruments.

 

Description: The instruments are handheld surgical instruments of Titanium and Stainless Steel. They are designed to be reusable via re- sterilization. The instruments are designed for various ophthalmic surgical applications from forceps, scissors, speculums, probes, cannulas and needle holders.

 

Indications for Use: Jaggi/ExegiMed instruments are supplied non-sterile and are designed for various application of ophthalmic surgery. The instruments are to be used for the purpose for which they were designed.

 

Precautions: Sterilize the instruments prior to use.

 

How Supplied: Each instrument is supplied non-sterile, in dry form, in a container/box for transportation and storage purpose only. After use, the instruments can be placed back into the container for protection until the next time they are ready for re-sterilization use. All instruments supplied mostly have a protective cover (Silicon tubing cut-out) that is mainly for protection during transport and handling during supply. This cover is to be removed before cleaning and sterilization. Teflon or Stainless Steel guard supplied with few instruments are autoclavable.

 

Recommended Cleaning Method: Rinse device with tap water for approximately two minutes while brushing with a soft bristled brush. Lightly scrub the devicewith mild non-bacterial soap to remove visible contamination. Perform a final rinse under running water for at least 2 minutes. Automated: Visually inspect the instrument. If needed, remove excess visible soil by rinsing in running water. Follow your automated washer light or delicate instruments wash cycle only. We do not recommend using toxic disinfectants or enzymatic detergents for ophthalmic surgical instruments. Use of neutral detergent is recommended. All our instruments are compatible with use of automated washer viz. tunnel, thermal, ultrasonic, batch etc

 

Recommended Sterilization Method: Sterilise to your facility’s standard practices or to the industry standards such as:

 

  • EN ISO 17665-1:2006, “Sterilization of Health Care Products - Moist Heat - Part 1: Requirements for the Development, Validation and Routine Control of a Sterilization Process for Medical Devices”

  • AS/NZS 4187:2014, "Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health service organisations"

  • ANSI/AAMI ST79: 2017, “Comprehensive Guide to Steam Sterilization and Sterility Assurance in Health Care Facilities.”

 

ExegiMed recommends the sterilization parameters listed below:
